The Communion of Western Orthodox Churches

Monastery Saint-Michel-de-Bois-Aubry

The bishops of the Communion of the Western Orthodoxe Churches took place at the monastery Saint-Michel-de-Bois-Aubry (Luzé-France) to further the work of the Communion. It was the second of the four programmed for the year 2009.

The bishops focus on four prayers in order to harmonize the translation for each respective rite. They are of the Creed, the Lord's Prayer, the prayer to the Holy Spirit: Celestial king? and of the prayer the Lenten prayer of Saint Éphrem. Each word was studied starting from the Greek, then Latin and Hebrew, in order to find a translation which is faithful and can be adapted to liturgical use.

The translations chosen by the bishops will be presented for experimental use to the faithful before final adoption.

Father Kentigern and Father Alexander are extremely thankful to the Trustees of the Robin Chapel, Edinburgh for giving us permission to us the Chapel for a monthly celebration of the Liturgy at 11am. This is initially on a trial basis for three months. The first celebration we hope will be on the first Sunday of July.

The Robin Chapel has a fascinating history and has been a faithful witness to the Christian Faith since it's dedication. We are very excited by this development and pray that it bears fruit, not only for our own small community but also in building ecumenical relations with other Christian Communities.

Please pray for God's blessing on this venture - and pray too for the work and witness of the Chaplain and congregation of The Robin Chapel.
