Spiritual retreat with Bishop Marc
This year, Bishop Marc chose to conduct the retreat in l’Herault (34) in the little hamlet of Briandes close to Lunas, from the 1st to the 9th of May
Some fifteen people participated in the retreat which took the theme ‘The Spiritual War’. Father Matthias, rector of the parish of Saint-Orens was present. The day after their arrival, the group met in Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert to make a pilgrimage to the Baume de l’Olivier in the mountain. It is in this place in 1974, that the first brothers of the renewed Celtic Orthodox Church made their vows. Father Stephen Prouet, accompanied by his wife and their daughter, joined the pilgrims. Father Stephen is a member of the Orthodox Church of the Gauls and he serves in the Parish of the Annunciation at Castelnau-le-Lez (34).
The retreat followed the normal pattern of alternating excursions and teaching. Every morning the day began with the Eucharistic Liturgy. In spite of the bad weather, the excursions to visit places of historic interest were programmed. On the final day, the group celebrated vespers in the vaulted chapel of Saint-Maximin-et-Saint-Vérédème where Father Corentin Enderlin is rector of Saint Maximin.
